Everyone wants to row...and everyone has the right to row
There has been an issue with regards to water trainings available to the team, and everyone, not just the non-senior team members have been fretting over this, because it affects the whole team, whatever affects one person affects everyone else. And the overall morale of the team has steadily became an object of concern, so its crucial that everyone remain optimistic about the situation.

*******************

At the end of our two years as RJC canoeists, what matters to us? What will we naturally hold dear most? Will it be the three days of competition we trained for? Will it be the personal glory which we fought hard for? Will it be the positions in the team which we have or wished we had? What will yours be?

And then i urge you to think of it three, four and even ten years down the road; when we look back upon our days in RJC, our memories as Raffles Rowers, what will we hold dear to our hearts? Will it be the medals, the positions, the glory, the honor the fame? Certainly not. We will be thinking of the people, of the trainings we enjoyed together, of the jokes we pulled on one another, of the frolicking in the changing room after trainings, of the names we called each other...

Above all we will reminisce the culture we shared, the pain we went through, the encouragement of our teammates, the bold vision we proclaimed, the fulfillment through the exhaustion, the laughter, the tears, the sweat and the toil we went through. And after all these things, the winning and the losing, will become secondary.

*******************

To those who are discouraged, may you find strength in the team. Recognize that above all, what matters is the experience. Nationals are coming, so naturally Jiao Lian will be focusing on the J2s and the senior team; its only a temporal period, so do not be discouraged. As canoeists we are not only strong physically, but we have to be mentally resilient as well.
